| Hi! It's 11:15 pm EDT, and I just got done reading the last 2 apudtes on the Atlanta Zoo website's panda page after monitoring their apudtes for the last couple of weeks. Lun Lun has finally gone into estrus and finally ovulated! This was determined late Sat./early Sun. thru behavior and hormone analysis that has been done on a daily basis lately. They have their regular entourage of American and Chinese panda experts on hand to observe Lun and Yang Yang. Sun. morning, the keepers let Lun and Yang get together with the hope of the 2 of them mating. They waitied, nothing happened. They went on to do semen collection from Yang, and then did 2 AI procedures on Lun on Sun., 6/13/2010. Now, the wait begins, you all! I think that this is the latest that Lun has gone into estrus, so if and when she does become pregnant, she will probably have her 3rd baby panda cub roughly around the middle of September (that's my guess).
